- Rebecca Livingston Lando was recently elected to the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's Board of Trustees. As a member of the board, Lando serves on the Facilities Committee. In addition to her practice and her involvement with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Rebecca is on the board and provides pro bono legal services to other nonprofit and community organizations including the Make a Wish Foundation and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
- Sixty-nine Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney attorneys have been selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2009.
- Rosemary J. Bruno has been elected president of The Newark Museum Business & Community Council for the 2008-2009 term. The Museum Business Council comprises representatives from businesses, governmental entities and educational institutions located in the greater Newark area.
- Paul S. Quinn was recently named to Irish Voice Newspaper and Irish America Magazine's inaugural Irish Legal 100 list. The list is compiled of the most distinguished and accomplished lawyers of Irish descent in America. The Irish-American publications read by over 250,000 people for consideration. A special supplement naming the top 100 will be published and inserted in the September 15, 2008, issue of Irish America Magazine.
- Charles F. Wieland III was named to Nanotechnology Law & Business journal's Top Ten list. The list was published in the journal's Summer 2008 edition. Nanotechnology Law & Business (NLB) is a peer reviewed journal devoted to the legal, business and policy aspects of small-scale technologies. According to NLB, the Top Ten list "highlight[s] ten of the most influential IP lawyers in nanotechnology….
- Caroline J. Berdzik has been named one of New Jersey Law Journal's "40 Under 40." The list, which came out August 8, 2008, is an "annual look at 40 promising young professionals in New Jersey's legal community." Berdzik concentrates her practice on representing management clients in a wide range of industries in many aspects of employment law, from counseling to litigation.
Francis X. Taney, Jr., has been named a 2008 Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. Taney was one of 35 Pennsylvania attorneys selected as the future leaders of the state's legal community. The full list appeared in the August 6, 2008, edition of The Legal Intelligencer.
- Elisa M.T. Basnight has been selected to serve on the Pennsylvania in the Arts Advisory Panel by The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.
- Ibie Adeyeye, an associate in the Labor and Employment practice, was recently selected as a member of Arlington County's 17-member Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Commission. Adeyeye's appointment, which officially begins September 13, 2008, was announced by the office of Mary Hynes, one of Arlington County's five-person board members.

More than 800,000 attorneys nationwide were asked to nominate lawyers, and only the top 5 percent of lawyers received this distinction.
- Caroline J. Berdzik has been named a New Jersey Rising Star in Employment Litigation: Defense by New Jersey Super Lawyers — Rising Stars Edition, published by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc.

- Charles F. Wieland, III, was honored as a Super Lawyer in Intellectual Property. More than 30,000 attorneys across the state were asked to nominate lawyers, and only the top 5 percent of Virginia lawyers received this distinction.
- John A. (Jack) Barbour was unanimously chosen by the firm's shareholders as CEO-elect. At the end of CEO Thomas L. VanKirk's term in June 2009, Barbour will take the reins as CEO.
- Christopher J. Dalton was appointed as vice chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court District V-A Ethics Committee for 2008-2009. In that role, he will be responsible for coordinating ethics hearings in the district, which encompasses Newark and surrounding areas. His one-year term begins September 1, 2008.
- Keith R. Solar has been selected as a San Diego County Top Attorney 2008. Solar was selected by his peers from more than 600 nominations to be among the best in San Diego’s legal community. He will be featured in a special July 16, 2008, edition of The Daily Transcript, titled "Top Attorneys 2008," as well as online at sddt.com.
- The Supreme Court of New Jersey has appointed Rosemary J. Bruno to a three-year term as statewide chair of the New Jersey Committee on Character. The appointment was effective July 1, 2008. Rosemary has been a member of the committee since 1996 and has served on the statewide panel since 2005.
- Patent litigation attorney Susan M. Dadio was elected secretary of The Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC). Dadio's term as secretary of the BADC will be for one year. She was officially sworn in at the BADC Annual Luncheon, which occurred on Tuesday, June 17.
- The Pennsylvania Association for Justice will present its 2008 President's Award to Pittsburgh shareholder and former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Ralph J. Cappy. The award will be presented at the association's annual retreat awards dinner on July 11 in Philadelphia.
- Recently announced, the new members of the firm's Labor and Employment Executive Committee and the Intellectual Property Executive Committee. The firm also named three chairs to its Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
- Four of the firm's attorneys have been honored by their peers and selected as Florida Super Lawyers. More than 44,000 attorneys across the state were asked to nominate lawyers, and only the top 5 percent of Florida lawyers received this distinction.
- Nineteen attorneys were selected by their clients and peers for inclusion among America's Leading Business Lawyers by Chambers USA.
- Starting July 1, Gerald E. Burns will begin a three-year term as a Hearing Committee member for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
- Titus Weinheimer, counsel in the Corporate Finance & Technology Section, has been selected to join German-based chemical company SKW Stahl-Metallurgie Holding AG's new Supervisory Board.
- Rick Morgan — co-head of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Miami and Aventura offices and member of the firm's Board of Directors — was elected chair of Friends for Sylvester (FFS) at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Shareholder Jacqui Fiske Lazo has been elected as a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
- Dale S. Webber, chair of Buchanan's Health Care Transactions Practice, was one of the top 100 attorneys nominated by clients nationwide to the BTI Transactions All-Star Team 2008.
- Shernese V. Woodbine, an associate in the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Practice of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, was recently appointed to the board of The Partnership CDC, a local nonprofit agency that leads efforts in affordable housing, job creation and economic development in West Philadelphia.

- Former Litigation shareholder Christine Donohue began her 10-year term as judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania on January 7, 2008.
- Alexandria shareholder Bassam ("Sam") N. Ibrahim was named in the Intellectual Property category of the Virginia Business Legal Elite 2007.
- Mary Sue Henifin has been sworn in as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Governor Jon S. Corzine appointed Ms. Henifin to the Board, and her appointment was approved by the State Senate in November, after a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
- Sixteen Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney attorneys were named as 2007 Pennsylvania Rising Stars by Philadelphia Magazine, published by Law & Politics. The award recognizes just 2.5 percent of Pennsylvania attorneys. The selection process includes peer nominations as well as independent research on candidates.
