Pittsburgh Immigration Attorney Ellen Freeman Elected President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association

Pittsburgh, PA, June 1, 2009 — Ellen Freeman, counsel in the Immigration Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Pittsburgh office, was recently elected president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Pittsburgh chapter. Freeman, who previously served as treasurer, will serve a one-year term.

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is the national association of over 11,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. AILA member attorneys represent U.S. families seeking permanent residence for close family members, as well as U.S. businesses seeking talent from the global marketplace. AILA members also represent foreign students, entertainers, athletes and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis. Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that provides continuing legal education, information, professional services and expertise through its 36 chapters and over 50 national committees.

Ellen Freeman focuses her practice on employment-based immigration, with particular emphasis on temporary work visas and permanent residence for scientists, researchers, engineers, medical professionals, artists and entertainers. She also advises start-up and foreign companies/investors in corporate entity formation and establishment of U.S. operations.
In addition to serving as president of the AILA's Pittsburgh chapter, she is the current president of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Immigration Law Committee.
